Merrymeeting Adult Education (MAE) is a cooperative effort combining Maine School Administrative District 75, Brunswick School Department, Regional School Unit 1, and Wiscasset Middle High School.
Over the years, MAE has expanded programs and courses reflecting the needs of the communities it serves.
Today, these programs include high school completion (HiSET or credit-based), Maine College Transitions, English Language Learners, Adult Basic Education/Literacy, driver education, and workforce development and education (e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant).
In addition, MAE offers a diverse range of community education programming reflecting the broad interests of the residents we serve.
These classes include but are not limited to the arts, music/dance, cooking, transportation, computers/technology, finance, fitness, languages, and personal enrichment.
Each year MAE offers hundreds of courses and workshops. Each June, MAE celebrates the accomplishments of its high school diploma/equivalency students with a graduation ceremony.
Merrymeeting provides low-cost, high quality education to the residents we serve. An adult whose goal is to obtain a high school credential or prepare for college can attend MAE at no cost. Grants provide MAE additional funding for some academic programs.
