We are always open to suggestions for new courses. If you would like to propose and/or teach a class, please email Raye Leonard, project administrator, at email@example.com to discuss your idea.
Twice a year we offer a free one-evening class during which an administrator shares information about our enrichment program, how to propose courses, and what to expect as a teacher. These sessions are a great way to get feedback about your course ideas, and ask questions. For upcoming dates, please see our current print catalog or search our course listings.
If teaching an adult ed class turns out to be something you want to do, we ask that you fill out a teacher application and course proposal form and send to Raye. Once we receive both, an interview with an administrator will be scheduled, if your course is one we might be interested in running.
You may apply to teach a course at any time of year, but please keep these dates in mind as they are peak times for new teacher and course considerations.
Deadlines for all course proposals
Semester Proposal Due Catalog Drop
Winter/Spring Oct. 15 Just before Christmas
Summer April 1 Memorial Day weekend
Fall June 1 Around Aug. 1
Catalog production takes about 8 weeks from the day proposals are due to the day the finished catalog arrives in mailboxes. The process includes course selection, interviewing and onboarding new teachers, coordinating schedules, arranging locations, editing, graphic design, printing, bindery, and distribution. It's a very busy time. If you do not hear from someone at Merrymeeting during peak production times, please drop a note to Raye.
