Join us for an introduction to Cuban Salsa! Students will learn the basics of the Salsa footwork and some simple, fun moves that will get you out on the dance floor. You will learn how to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. Partner is not required but recommended. No class April 10 and 24.

Authentic Belly Dance, or raks sharqi, is an ancient form of dance. Raks sharqi means “dance of the east” in Arabic. Belly dance celebrates every body type and every stage of life. The dance is proud and powerful and soft and sinewy with elegant and isolating movements emanating from the core. It’s the Pilates of dance. And so much fun! In this mixed level class, we will work with improvisation and group choreography, as well as continually working with subtleties of technique at whatever level you are. Please wear comfortable clothing, similar to what you might wear to a yoga class that will allow for free movement and the ability to see your movement. Hip scarves make it even more fun. You can dance barefoot or in a pair of comfortable dance shoes. Zils (finger cymbals) and veils will also be used in class and are available for purchase from the instructor. No class on May 25.
Are you ready to be cool? If so, the Swing is a “must learn” dance. The dance was created by dance studios including the Arthur Murray dance studios in the 1940s, based on the Lindy Hop. For those who want to learn only Swing, we will be reviewing the foundation and adding more moves, including the triple step. It will be more technical than the foundation class. Students continue to learn American and Latin Ballroom in this intermediate dance class. Students who have some ballroom and Latin dance experience are welcome - so get ready to perfect your existing dance steps and build confidence with each class. Students continue to learn all the moves in Foxtrot, Swing, Mambo, Merengue, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha and Tango. No partner necessary. Classes are held at Cellar Fitness, 9 Cumberland St., Brunswick.
