Unplug and Recharge

with Heather Shaughnessy-Cato

$35 More Info

"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes... including you." -Anne Lamott. Feeling a bit tired, stressed, depleted? There is a very good reason why -- our minds and bodies have difficulty processing and managing high levels of stress and uncertainty over long periods of time. This session will provide an opportunity to pause, reflect, and attend to your own well-being. The session will begin with a mindfulness exercise and gentle yoga appropriate for home or an office for grounding and to release tension. Then we will explore a wellness tool to reflect on and assess well-being in various parts of life.  Finally, we will design small, incremental actions we could take this week to both savor what is going well and attend to an area of life that could use more attention.

Yoga is one of the oldest "holistic" health-care systems in existence, focusing on both the mind and body. Through the practice of yoga postures and breath work, you can connect with your body and mind and discover your spirit; yoga is the art of listening to all parts of your Self. Hatha yoga postures linked with the breath have a powerful effect on all systems of the body providing the energy to age gracefully, stay fit, improve circulation and posture, loosen and lengthen knotty muscles, reduce stress, increase bone density, and promote relaxation at the end of the day. Please bring a yoga mat. Recommended props include a cushion and/or yoga blanket, blocks, bolster, and strap. Covid 19 safety protocols will follow state and school district recommendations for in-person events.
