Drawing on several classical traditions, this class provides preparation and instruction for a suite of postures and transitions to support an integrated asana (physical) practice. Classes incorporate deep stretching to develop flexibility, range of motion exercises to enhance mobility, posture sequences and holds to build strength, and balancing to improve stability. Sessions begin with centering, end with guided meditation, and integrate pranayama (breathwork) throughout - both in stillness and movement. The class will provide options for students of all ages, levels of experience, and body types. This class provides the opportunity for newcomers to discover what yoga is all about, and for longtime students seeking to revive or deepen their practice. Please bring a yoga mat and wear clothing suitable for movement.
