Portrait Drawing + Painting
For drawing:
- Sticks of vine & compressed charcoal OR a set of drawing pencils.
- Kneaded Eraser
- 16 x 20 pad of sketching paper or larger
- As an alternative. newsprint paper is an inexpensive option for those who wish to have lots of sheets to experiment with
- An easel and/or drafting board to prop the sketch pad on.
For painters:
- 16 x 20 pad of acrylic or canvas paper (My go-to is Canson Acrylic paper)
- A tube of any black acrylic paint
- A tube of any white acrylic paint
- A Small, medium, and large paint brush
- For brands of paint, my personal favorites are Liquitex Soft Bodies
- An easel and/or drafting board to prop the sketch pad on.
- A Cup for rinsing water and a paper towel or rag

Chicken Ropa Vieja, Tony Style
- 1 lb. meat of your choice (flank steak, pork tenderloin or chicken breast) cooked in ¾ gallon of water with 2 bay leaves, 1 teaspoon salt then shredded.
- 1 pinch of ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 large tomato
- 1tablespoon tomato paste
- ¼ cup broth from the meet you cooked
- 2 teaspoon red wine vinegar or lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano leaves
- 1 teaspoon powdered chicken or beef broth
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, if desired
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced or in strips
- Chopped fresh parsley, if desired

Painting with Acrylics for Beginners
- Paints: Cadmium Yellow, Light Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Titanium White, Ivory, Black
- Heavy Body Acrylic Gesso
- Paintbrushes
- Palette Knife
- Palette or Palette Paper
- Canvas–8 x 10 is a good size.
- Water Bucket
- Clean, lint-free rags
