New Ventures Maine helps Maine people find success in their jobs, businesses and communities through tuition free classes and workshops, on-site and online, and one-on-one coaching in four program areas: Build a Career, Start a Business, Manage your Money, Become a Leader.
New Ventures Maine offers classes and workshops at no charge, as well as one-on-one coaching for individuals. NVME also provides resources such as mini-grants for marketing your small business; career planning scholarships for investing in your own education; and matched-savings programs for building an emergency fund, making car or home repairs, buying a car, becoming a first-time homeowner, going to college, or growing your business.
New Ventures Maine is administered by the University of Maine at Augusta and operates out of 10 offices statewide.

Business Basics: This class covers the basics of a business plan, marketing, cash planning and is suitable for those thinking about or in the early start-up phase of a new business. It will help you assess the feasibility, desirability, and viability of your business idea and get you started with your plan.
Introduction to Self-Employment: This one-session workshop will help you decide if self-employment is the right choice for you. The class covers the pros and cons of owning your own business, the steps needed for start-up, the major elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to help you succeed.
Resume Strategies: Do you need to write or update your resume? In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to write an effective resume that highlights your skills and experience.
