Ren Wilkey, Stained Glass Artist
Merrymeeting Artist-in-Residence, Topsham/Bowdoinham

Since early childhood Herenya Jane Wilkey, aka Ren, has felt most at home amidst the clutter and chaos of whatever project she was working on. Her many interests took her on journeys through jewelry making, blacksmithing, pottery, pyrography, and floral design. Her love of light and color inspired the desire to explore the art of stained glass. Loving all animals, Ren has always had a special affinity and affection for lizards and other unusual creatures. When she is not working or reading, she most enjoys traveling the world with her husband, Will, meeting the local birds and wildlife, and finding treasures and inspiration.
Take a Free Workshop with Ren
COLLABORATIVE MOSAIC Ren will be designing a larger mosaic that will be quadrant-off and assigned sections to those who come for the workshop. Participants will be shown how to glue down their tessera to the mesh while they each put their own personal spin on the design. Later on, Ren will reassemble the mosaic pieces back into the larger design, grout, and finish it properly. This will be a meaningful and collaborative art-making experience. The larger, finished piece will then live at the Merrymeeting center in Topsham where participants can come back and view it when it is finished and on display.

- There will be an opening reception on Friday, September 29th from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
