Learn the fundamentals of making Chinese dumplings at home. You will learn to make fresh scratch-made dough, and roll your own wrappers, and how to fold and pleat them using pork filling. We will then water-fry/steam the dumplings to create this restaurant favorite—pot sticker dumplings. Additionally, you will learn to make your own ginger-scallion oil and the instructor will talk about other common Chinese condiments used for dipping sauces. All ingredients, materials, equipment and recipes will be provided. [Plant-based ground meat can be substituted for the pork upon request. The dumpling wrappers include gluten.] Program is presented by Jeff Mao of Knead & Nosh in Topsham, ME.

Come join our singing class this semester and learn your own singing voice. We will address concepts such as matching pitch, projection, pronunciation, and singing in SATB format. We will have fun singing in parts while discussing vocal production to help you become a more confident singer. We need male/low pitch voices because we usually have more ladies than men, so if you're a bit shy about singing, know that others are shy, too. You may surprise yourself! Come discover your own vocal range and learn how piano is used to understand music. Each semester is a new class. New students: $20 material fee paid to instructor for 1 book and more. *No Class: 4/21 & 5/5.

Watercolor Using Decalcomania

This class is for students who have already painted using watercolors. If you are intimidated by a blank surface when beginning a painting, this class will teach you a technique that will give you a place to start. Using watercolor and plastic wrap on wet paper students will begin an image choosing a tree, landscape, flowers, or abstract imagery of their choice. Once dry, the image will be further developed by students tapping into their intuition. The class will begin with a demo and examples of subjects created using this technique. Students are responsible for their own art supplies. Materials costs range from $85 to $100 depending on what materials are selected. A suggested materials list will be provided by the instructor.

This gentle class is designed for those who find difficulty getting up and down from the floor, those who have limited mobility, those who are recovering from an injury that prevents one from exercising on the floor, seniors, and anyone looking for a mindful yoga class practiced from the comfort of a sturdy chair. We will modify traditional yoga postures and stretches so that they can be done seated. The class encourages flexibility and muscle tone while connecting mind and body through intentional breathing. Build on your box making skills with the Hinged-Lidded box. This box opens like a book or jewelry box by adding a hinged lid technique. Collage materials will be available to decorate the tops of your boxes in your own unique style. A $25 material fee, payable to the instructor, must be paid on the first night of the class. Please join Mary Woodbury, OTR/L CHT for a discussion about self-care - easy-to-perform techniques, exercises and home-use devices to ease discomfort in our hands and arms. Some of the many hand and upper extremity conditions benefiting from selfcare are osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, trigger finger, and carpal tunnel. Self-care is conservative care and often the first line of care prescribed by Physicians and Occupational Therapists.
