Then, dive into a hands-on activity to create two custom camp meals to take home, featuring freeze-dried products from local Maine farms, preserved right here in Maine by Green Gean’s. Everyone remembers a special story from when they were a child; a story that they have remembered all of their lives. That is what a well written children’s story does, it makes an impact. But even though children’s stories may be easy to read, creating stories for children is one of the most challenging – and fulfilling things you will ever do as a writer. In this course your instructor will share tips and techniques for creating stories designed specifically for children under the age of 10. We will cover picture books, early readers and grade school level story writing.

Experienced hikers and campers: Prepare and plan to join up to 8 adventurers to summit Maine's tallest peak with Registered Maine Guide, Chris Toy. You must be able to hike for 4 hours with a 20 pound pack while gaining 2000 feet in elevation to sign up for this trip. The trip will take three days and two nights. The dates are approximate depending on when reservations are available. Summiting is not guaranteed and will depend on weather conditions. *There is a $25.00 non-refundable fee for cancellations.

Oyster Farm and Complimentary Tasting Sea Kayak Tour

Join Master Maine Guide Alice starting early morning to avoid the winds on Mere Point Bay. While we’re paddling in solo and tandem sea kayaks, you’ll learn about aquaculture in Maine – fishing, clamming, scallop and oyster farming. You’ll learn about the area’s natural and human history. We’ll be visiting an oyster farm and then land on an island where you’ll learn to shuck oysters and then taste your success. This tour is beginner and family friendly. Sea kayaks, life jackets, and paddles are provided. You provide water and snacks. We meet at 8:15am and return about noon.

Museum Sketchbook: Fransworth

Forge an intimate connection with museum collections, while improving your own work by studying the techniques of the masters. Guidance and critical feedback are provided as needed. At the end of our visit, we will meet up to share our results with the group. Museum admission is included in fee. Location: Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland. Participants will meet at the museum.
