Embark on a culinary adventure at our exciting Kids Cooking Camp! We will explore the world of international flavors like Swedish meatballs, Mexican enchiladas, English scones, Greek spinach pie, Asian Stir fry and American ice cream! The young chefs will learn about basic kitchen tool use, oven safety, measuring, sequencing in food preparation, teamwork and aesthetic presentation of dishes. They will also learn about spices relative to each cuisine. Participants should bring containers daily to take home samples of what we make to share with family. Instructor Debra Arter, a former teacher, has been a camp cook and teaching adult ed. baking classes for a decade. For ages 10-13 years old. *All materials/ingredients will be provided.

NOTICE OF DATE CHANGE: This program will now run the week of 8/11-8/15.

This camp experience will allow kids to create and tell their own stories over the course of a week. We will learn and use improv theater techniques and exercises to explore and express ourselves and flex our imagination, culminating in a showcase performance on the final day for friends and family. No experience necessary, just the courage to be on stage and skills for being silly. Elise Voigt is a trained actress and theater educator who has been working in the midcoast area for the last 15 years. Her love of theater and children perfectly combines to make meaningful and memorable moments for students and audiences alike. ***Ages 9-14.

Ultimate Beginner Watercolor Workshop

In this 2 day class, you'll learn everything you need to know to get started with watercolor painting. We will have an in-depth conversation about paper and pads, paint, palettes, and brushes. After the materials lecture, we'll jump right in and make a color chart, practice mixing paint and our brush strokes. After a quick review on the second day, you'll have the opportunity to paint a custom illustration created by Catherine and printed on watercolor paper. You'll leave this short, but sweet class with enough experience and knowledge to know if investing in the materials to paint with watercolor is something you are interested in doing. All materials provided. *A $20 materials fee must be paid to instructor at first class.

Cardmaking 101: Flowers

Welcome to a fun-filled Spring/Summer “flowers” themed card-making class. We will be creating several A2 (5 ¼” x 4 ¼”) size cards throughout our three week experience. This class is beginner’s level. Anyone who may experience mild vision and/or dexterity issues are welcome, and will have assistance in creating your pieces of art for take-home. Mixed media, such as inks-glue-watercolor-paints, may be used in class. Please bring an apron if concerned about your clothing. If you are curious and/or gifted in using your hands creatively, this is the class for you. *Please arrive a few minutes early, as to not disrupt a prompt start to class and instruction. All materials needed will be provided by the instructor. A $10 materials fee is expected at the first class (cash only please).
