Veronica Perez is an artist who works alongside the community to speak about erasure, identity, and interdependency. Perez uses these frames of reference to situate their work deep within intimate stories and experiences – and share them with a broader audience through sculpture and story. In 2020, they were awarded the Ellis-Beaureguard Visual Arts Fellowship. In 2021 they were the inaugural fellow at the David C. Driskell Black Seed Studio. And In 2022, they were a fellow at the Lunder Institute at Colby College. Perez works as the Administrative Assistant at Indigo Arts Alliance. They are also co-organizer in Tender Table.

BRAIDING CIRCLES Braiding circles is a community gathering workshop focused on braiding a three-strand braid from synthetic hair while conversing about fractured identity, experiences, and belonging. It started as a way to create more braids for my larger sculptures but turned into a place for honest and open conversation. The circles came about through the need to create a space for open community conversation and the need to work toward the goal of communal healing through storytelling and braiding.
